Consider what it means to be medically indigent:

  • Imagine developing diabetes with no regular source of care.
  • Imagine acquiring an infection or pneumonia with no access to antibiotics.
  • Imagine having a stroke or heart attack because you had no means for managing high blood pressure or hypertension.

Services

Health for Friends provides general medical services, urgent care, and health education to the medically indigent of Norman. 

General medical services include physicals, laboratory and radiology services, medical monitoring and treatment of chronic conditions, follow-up for minor illnesses or injuries, and routine gynecologic care that includes paps smears and mammography services.

In addition, HFF provides urgent care for an illnesses or injury that does not require emergency department services if treated promptly.  An urgent care condition could be a sprain, strep throat, or a minor cut. 

Lastly, HFF provides health education materials and classes on a wide variety topics so that our clients have the tools necessary to re-shape everyday unhealthy habits. Topics at HFF include hypertension management brochures, smoking cessation classes, and diabetic carbohydrate counting classes.
